Only in Arkansas would Dollar General, armed robbery and a getaway tractor be in a police report.
But yet here it is.
Tractors are commonly seen throughout Arkansas highways traveling to and from farms and other locations. In fact, no one really pays attention to them as we carry out our days especially on two-lame roads.
On Saturday, according to the Arkansas State Police report, a tractor was used as an escape vehicle after 28-year-old Tyler McWaters of Traskwood allegedly robbed the Glen Rose Dollar General.
The Arkansas State Police news release states McWaters entered the DG – that's what many Arkansans call Dollar General – armed with a rifle and stolem merchandise and fled the scene on a tractor.
Hot Springs County deputies with the help of Arkansas State Police located McWaters at his residence in the 2500 block of Thunderbird Loop. Police made contact. McWaters fled on foot towards the neighbors' property.
McWaters fired at officers during their on-foot pursuit. Officers returned fire striking McWaters.
McWaters was taken into custody and treated on the scene for non-life threatening injuries. He was then transported to UAMS for continued treatment.
The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is conducting an investigation into the shooting.
According to VINELink, McWaters has had previous run-ins with law enforcement.
After completion of the investigation the case will be turned over to Hot Spring County Prosecuting Attorney Teresa Howell to determine if lethal force was justified.
Yes, only in Arkansas.
