Criminal Attorney To Represent Travis "Joey" Posey
New court documents filed in the Fordyce mass shooting case
Little Rock attorney James W. Wyatt entered his appearance as the attorney of record for Travis Eugene “Joey” Posey on August 5, according to court documents filed in the Dallas County Courthouse.
Posey, 45, of New Edinburg is accused in the Fordyce Mad Butcher mass shooting on June 21. He faces four counts of capital murder and 11 counts of attempted murder.
Who is Posey's new attorney?
A partner in Montgomery Wyatt Hardy, PLC., Wyatt joins two public defenders already representing Posey.
According to the firm's website, Wyatt was born in Searcy and moved to North Little Rock in 1983. He graduated from North Little Rock Northeast High School. Wyatt graduated from the University of Arkansas and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (Bowen) School of Law.
Wyatt “has argued before the Arkansas Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals, Eight Circuit. He has served as special judge in Pulaski County District Courts as well as Pulaski County Circuit Court.”
He “serves as lead attorney on capital murder death penalty cases, as well as all other felony cases across the state of Arkansas.”
The website adds: “In addition to his state court practice, Jim also practices in federal court, where he has handled a wide range of federal criminal cases, including drug cases, white collar fraud, federal health care fraud and murder.”

On August 7, Posey's attorneys filed a nine-page “Motion For Discovery And Disclosure.”
