News of the Weird: The Week That Was
Drugs in watermelons. Unmoldy bread. Military explosives. Mad Max. Harris. Trump. Violent teenagers. Weekly poll. 🍉 🍞 🏜 🔮👀
September?! Already?
How can that be? We have no idea, but we are ready for cooler weather.
Straight to the weird!
Don't think drugs are coming in at the Southern Border? Think again.
From the Associated Press:
“SAN DIEGO (AP) — A truckload of methamphetamine disguised as a shipment of watermelons was seized at a U.S.-Mexico border crossing in San Diego, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.
The methamphetamine, valued at more than $5 million, was found Aug. 16 when the cargo aboard a tractor-trailer from Mexico was unloaded for a detailed inspection, the agency said in a statement.” 🍉
This event on I-40 near Brinkley was a bit odd last week.
News reports gave more details than state government officials on their official social media accounts. One news station obtained a crash report. National news picked up the story.
Three 18-wheelers were involved. There was a fatality. The military was involved because of “potentially explosive” military devices. A special Department of Defense team from Louisiana was maybe on their their way to Arkansas. A one-mile radius had been created to protect people in the Brinkley area where the accident occurred.
Then the accident was cleared up, the interstate reopened and it was business as usual.
We never heard another peep from the governor giving the all clear. No, thanks to Louisiana or Department of Defense from her on any official. No official press release for Arkansas State Police, which usually sends something out about interstates.
We don't know the man's name who died either.
What really happened? What was the explosive chemical? Where was the “potentially explosive” shipment going? 👽
Ever driven in South Arkansas? 🚗

We admit we haven't had as many investigations lately but August was a health crisis month. Richard was in North Carolina with his son who has brain cancer and Lynch Syndrome. Read more here:
Richard came home to weird. A weird loaf of bread. Or is it the norm?
ICYMI.
Since that story was published, we've heard from others about bread that will not mold and bottled water that will not freeze.
What is going on? 🍞 💧 🥧
Now this is an interesting poll. We think we will do this one ourselves for our readers.
Richard was shocked when we saw the price of orange juice last week at the Sheridan Walmart. Wtf? 🍊
Suzi Googled. AI answered. She hates AI but here you go.
Desolate. The news made Suzi think we are living here where there was clearly no orange juice.
Then we read this from Arkansas Center for Health Improvement about violence and teens.
Please consider a monthly or yearly subscription. It's only $6 a month to access all of our stories and the archives with more than 200 stories. Remember $6 a month is less than a gallon of orange juice! Or subscribe for $33.75 a year.

We’ve said it before and we will say it again. This is not a hobby. It is a business.
Well Green Day is hibernating for a month now.
One of the trucks was hauling a nuke? History does have bombs just falling off of planes and miraculously not going off. They call them broken arrows.
Oh Lord, whichever personality you pick the kid’s gonna be insufferable.
