Trump: America's Turning Point
South Arkansas Reckoning: One-Year Anniversary coming up! Must Read!
Doom and gloom rhetoric over the past decade has worn me out.
Most days seem pretty normal here in South Arkansas. Others seem like I'm not even in America anymore.
Every middle-class American is facing down daily obstacles perpetuated by some sort of government policy, law or outright theft of the tax money we pay. It can be depressing, yet we cover it. It's not easy, folks. When you report on local issues, you see the people who are the subject of scrutiny in real life at Walmart or a restaurant. In some way or other what we do is affecting someone we know in some way. It's a hard job.
Talk about a rip-off
Ukraine has cashed in on U.S tax dollars for years now. I see the talking heads saying we have to help Ukraine. I've heard the lines over and over “it's who we are.” They act like Putin is trying to cross our Southern border.
Well folks, where I'm currently sitting things look pretty low. The economy is slow. Groceries are high. Gas prices can easily take away from the kitchen table. The American dream is not that dreamy. While the politicians tell us to tighten our belts up a bit and they'll make it all better, folks around the world are gobbling up our tax money like Pac-Man ate white dots in the 80's. It's not just Ukraine, that's just a good example.
America First is common sense
Being a full-time caregiver takes a toll on a person.
Watching a loved one being ushered through a failing medical conglomerate of ineffective, sometimes incompetent, practices only to be told “we know best” is a hard pill to swallow.
I've taken my share of those pills and given some right back to them. For two long years I've researched Lynch Syndrome and how it relates to brain cancer. When my son was diagnosed, I knew better than to rely solely on the doctors. Its a shame that testing for Lynch Syndrome is rarely done before doctors start treating complex cancers. Fact is the doctors gave him six months. With me being a strong advocate and being armed with facts and peer-reviewed studies, we will celebrate two years in September. I fight to the end, folks. There's no quit in me. You are your own best advocate. Yet, millions of Americans still suffer to get adequate treatment, medication and proper care because of money.
National politics
South Arkansas Reckoning has kept a close eye on the “investigation” into the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.
Well, to be completely honest here, we are sifting through the sound bites and trying to make sense of everything just like you and wondering what in the hell really happened.
It appears that there are a number of major issues being reported that simply do not make sense. Some are saying that local police failed to act to eliminate the shooter. Others are blaming Secret Service for taking too long to take the shooter out. Who the hell knows? Was the shooter a Republican or Democrat? Why does that even matter? He was obviously mentally deranged. I seriously do not associate his evil actions with a political party.
Like anything the federal government does, it is not efficient, or timely. The “truth” gets put out there by the mainstream media, social media experts and conspiracy theorists, leaving Americans to decipher that actual sliver of truth from inside myriad speculation and outright lies for clicks, likes and shares. Sadly most American's believe what their favorite political commentator is saying. That’s not news, folks. It’s commentary just like this article.
Here's exactly where I stand on this attempted assassination. I don't care if you like Trump or hate him. I find it absolutely un-American that anyone would wish death on him. Those who are paid to protect him should be fired. Their inefficient handling of that event allowed a citizen to be killed. Fire them. What we all witnessed in Pennsylvania should never happen to any politician, or for that matter, any person on Earth.
Social media is littered with posts that are downright disturbing. It's like America is sick with no cure in sight. Years of lies, ridicule, and political hate speech has replaced the news. Mainstream media continues to sensationalize every single tragic event or violent act in America. The shift from news to commentary has fractured the entire foundation of trust between the government, the people and the news.
Hollywood is helping them destroy civilized debate. Remember Kathy Gifford holding the severed head of what was intended to be Trump? I do. Remember what Johnny Depp said? I could go on and on. Every single day Trump is under attack. What does he do? He gives it right back to them.
The age of instantaneous “news” on social media keeps both sides of the aisle inflamed. When does it end?
I wonder why the media refuses to talk about the positive things that took place under the 45th President? I think back on those four years and remember a man trying to make things better for a fella like me. Focusing on American jobs and American products seems like common sense to me.
Opening up more avenues for our military to access better healthcare was a good thing. Trump’s unwavering support of law enforcement was a breath of fresh air after eight years of constant attacks by the media during the Obama years.
Trump’s “Right To Try” executive order allowed experimental medicine for the most vulnerable Americans fighting terminal illnesses was something I will forever be grateful for. Standard of care for cancer patients in America is truly flawed. Right To Try opened doors for so many people who otherwise had no options.
When you wake up facing down cancer every single day it will change you. Trying to decide whether to pay a bill or buy medication hits home for me. I hope you never face that conundrum. Like I mentioned, I'm a caregiver so maybe I see it from a slanted point of view. I applaud Trump for actually trying to lower the cost of medication for all Americans. Those are the things I expect from every president.
The border wall was not a perfect plan, but it was something. Trump's “Remain In Mexico” policy drastically reduced the influx of migrants into our country. It also slowed the flow of illegal drugs that continue to kill people every single day.
Why “Remain in Mexico” ended within days of the exchange of powers in 2021 is baffling. Honestly, it's shameful. America can no longer be the bank of the world while its citizens suffer financial hardship.
I ask myself daily why a man like Trump who can go anywhere, anytime, still wants to be president.
If he doesn't own it, he can buy it. Why does he deal with what the government and media have done to him and his family everyday since he announced he was running for president? He must be tough as nails. Had he never run in the first place against Hillary, he likely would have never been subjected to such scrutiny. No media attacks, no indictments, no false accusations. He and his family could have continued to live any life they wanted.
My hat is off to the guy. I'm not sure I'd put up with everything he has.
I hope our readers understand that we won't likely write very much about national politics. We aren't in Washington and there's not many reliable sources of information available. It's enough for Suzi and me to try to bring awareness to what's happening right here in Arkansas.

Sammy,
Are you calling me or Richard "honey bunch"? Or Courtney?
Either way, contain yourself.

I'm not sure why he ran. I will say this, I didn't vote for him the last two times. I went third party, Libertarian and America Solidarity, respectively. With the pure suckfest that is Biden and whoever is pulling his strings I was going to vote for Trump even though Arkansas is a shoe-in for him.
There wasn't a lot I disagreed with, he's just annoying and crass.
After the assassination attempt, I'm definitely pulling the lever for him. Groceries and gas is killing me. Sole breadwinner of a house of four and working three jobs to do it. My W-2 job, the Substack and delivering food on DoorDash and UberEats.
