UPDATE: School Transfer Is Official
Two Cleveland County School District students have a new school home
What's the latest on the mom who wanted to transfer her two daughters from the Cleveland County School District?
South Arkansas Reckoning interviewed Amanda Yardley and her two daughters about their situation with the school district on Jan. 8 and published the interview on Jan. 9.
After our story ran, Cleveland County School District officials signed documents needed for the Yardley girls to transfer to the Fordyce School District.
“They got transferred, but it should not have been this hard or taken this long “ Yardley told South Arkansas Reckoning this week.
Yardley’s fight for a transfer started soon after the school year began because of alleged bullying and mental anguish her daughters’ faced at school in Rison.
Yardley and a family representative attended December's school board meeting to appeal the denial of transfer. That meeting turned into chaos. She eventually asked for help from the Arkansas Department of Education where she faced more obstacles.
You can read about and listen to Yardley's school choice struggles in these two stories.
The two Yardley girls are now officially Fordyce Redbugs.
