Victim In Fordyce Mass Shooting Files Lawsuit
Jury trial requested for damages against Travis Eugene "Joey" Posey
An injured victim in the Fordyce Mad Butcher mass shooting on June 21 has filed a lawsuit in Dallas County against Travis Eugene “Joey” Posey, the alleged shooter.
Brittney Sullivent, the victim, and her husband, Jeromy Sullivent, want damages and a jury trial.
The lawsuit states “On June 21, 2024, at approximately 11:38 a.m., Defendant intentionally and purposely loaded and fired a firearm that was in his exclusive possession and control, and caused bullets discharged from the firearm to strike and injure Brittney Sullivent, proximately causing serious injury to Brittney Sullivent and damage to her vehicle.”
The lawsuit continues:
“That on June 21, 2024, at approximately 11:38 a.m., at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas, Defendant intentionally and purposefully loaded a firearm and caused to be fired several rounds from a Mossberg pump twelve gauge shot gun into the vehicle that she was driving causing damage to her vehicle and wounding her in the arm and in the head. Brittney Sullivent was treated locally and airlifted to UAMS in Little Rock where she underwent several procedures, and which are ongoing.
“The above-described intentional acts on the part of Defendant, Travis Eugene Posey, were the proximate cause of multiple injuries to Brittney Sullivent which have resulted in pain and suffering, mental anguish, past and future medical procedures and expenses, hearing loss, permanent disfigurement, loss of consortium and other damages. Jeromy Sullivent is the husband of Brittney Sullivent.”
The lawsuit states that Jeromy Sullivent is the husband of Brittney Sullivent. He has suffered a loss of consortium as a proximate cause of the Defendant's intentional actions.
They are asking that Brittney Sullivent “recover for the following damages, all of which were proximately caused by the negligence and or intentional acts of Travis Eugene Posey: The nature, extent, duration and permanency of her injuries.”
Also included in the lawsuit:
The expense of Brittney Sullivent's medical care, treatment and services received, including transportation, board, and lodging expenses and those expenses that are reasonably certain to be experienced in the future; any pain, suffering, and mental anguished experienced in the past and reasonably certain to be experienced in the future; the value of any earnings, earning capacity, profits, or salary lost in the past and that are reasonably certain to be lost in the future.”
