What's Jeffrey Epstein's Connection to Pine Bluff?
Connecting the dots ... even now
Why did Jeffrey Epstein's plane land in Pine Bluff at least two times in 2001?
In the recent Epstein document dump, Pine Bluff's only airport Grider Field is mentioned in connection with Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who is an alleged victim of the sex trafficking ring of Jeffrey Epstein.
Epstein was a close friend to Bill Clinton, a frequent flyer on Epstein’s “Lolita Express” and his wife Hillary, before his death in a New York jail awaiting trial.
The document states that Epstein’s plane landed in Pine Bluff on May 5, 2001. Clinton left the Oval Office on January 20, 2001, after making several controversial pardons to his personal friends who were indicted in the Whitewater scandal.
In a 2020 database of Epstein's flight logs created by Business Insider, Pine Bluff is also mentioned as a 2001 landing spot for Epstein.
That log includes Epstein (JE) as a passenger along with other guests on his plane.
The plane left Teterboro, New Jersey, for Pine Bluff on Oct. 26, 2001. Teterboro is 12 miles from Manhattan. Court documents show Teterboro as a hub for many of Epstein’s flights.
Giuffre is not mentioned by name on the passenger manifest, and it is unclear if she is one of the two unnamed females on the flight.
Who is Guiffre?
The Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell story is complex and twisty with well-known international celebrities, politicians and business moguls connected and intertwined.
Giuffre has often said she was trafficked to Prince Andrew, Duke of York at least three times when she was 17 in 2001. The Duke of York, with no admission as to liability, paid Giuffre an undisclosed financial settlement in 2022.
Guiffre has been in litigation against Epstein and Maxwell for years.
Pine Bluff's Grider Field
For all the glamorous places that Epstein traveled throughout the world, Pine Bluff is not one. (Full disclosure: Pine Bluff is my hometown.)
Grider Field, also known as Pine Bluff Regional Airport, was built in 1941 during World War II as a U.S. Army Flight Training School operated by the Pine Bluff School of Aviation. The airport, now owned by the city of Pine Bluff, sits on about 800 acres in what was once a cotton farm.
The airport has one runway and serves as the only ILS-equipped, jet capable airport in southeast Arkansas. ILS stands for instrument landing system, which is a precision radio navigation system that provides short-range guidance to planes that allows them to approach a runway at night or in bad weather.
Epstein and Little Rock
The Business Insider database also shows Epstein's plane in Little Rock twice in 2001. The only passenger? Epstein.
It’s understandable that a Friend of Bill’s like Epstein would visit Little Rock, especially in 2001 when Clinton was wooing millionaires for donations to build his William J. Clinton Presidential Library and Museum.
But what the hell was happening in Pine Bluff?
