On Monday, June 16, the quiet upscale Elrod Edition in Rison was rocked when various law enforcement cars appeared at a two-story house.

Neighbors stood in the yard watching. Friends texted friends. Rumors swirled in the small town of approximately 1,000 people.

Bobby Lewis Macon, 47, had been arrested in a drug bust, and law enforcement, including the FBI, scoured the house where he lived. Macon was then taken to Dallas County Jail.

Dallas County Sheriff Mike Knoedl wrote about the arrest in his weekly Facebook post that week.

Knoedl wrote: "I want to begin with an announcement regarding an early morning arrest that occurred on Monday. This arrest was a long-term, complex drug investigation involving multiple agencies. My staff, along with the assistance of the FBI and the 13th Judicial Drug Task Force executed an early morning search warrant in Rison. Two people were arrested in this incident, and a large amount of methamphetamine, marijuana, and assorted prescription drugs were seized, along with a firearm. These arrests marked the culmination of several months of work with the FBI to bring this case to a close. I want to commend Sergeant Jordan Ables, Captain Keith Axsom, and Deputy Tim Wofford for their outstanding work on this case. This suspect is allegedly responsible for supplying Dallas County with illegal drugs over a long period. I am proud of all the hard work and time put into making this a success!"

This week, Macon was charged with eight counts. Read the charges from this excerpt from court documents.

Court documents filed July 7 in Cleveland County Circuit Court state Macon "has 4 or more prior felonies and may be sentenced to an extended term of imprisonment
not more than fifteen (15) years and a fine not to exceed $10,000" on the first count of trafficking a controlled substance.

With each additional charge, the same habitual count – Macon's previous felonies – follows him.

While previous news reports list Macon as residing in Fordyce, court documents concerning Macon's first appearance filed this week list his residence as 204 Elrod Road in Rison.

Macon's first appearance was before Circuit Judge Spencer Singleton in Dallas County. However, court documents state, "This case is hereby-bound over to the Circuit Court of CLEVELAND County, Arkansas for further
proceedings."

In handwritten notes in the margins of the document about pre-trial release, it states that Macon had worked for A&W Logging in Rison for 3-4 years, had lived on Elrod Road for 7-8 years, and "never out of Ark."

Macon was previously charged with aggravated assault.

Little Rock attorney Jimmy Morris of the Morris Law Firm is representing Macon.

Macon's bond, set by the prosecuting attorney, was $1 million.

For pre-trial release, Macon must maintain "good behavior, no illegal drugs or alcohol, consent to search by law enforcement when requested."

Macon will appear in the "Circuit Court of CLEVELAND County, Arkansas, Criminal Division on August 12, 2025 9:00 AM," court documents state.
