It's June 8, a typical Sunday afternoon in the South. The humidity is up from last night's rain.
All across the region, areas are dealing with rising water. In the coming days the clean-up and repair in the aftermath of heavy rains will cover social media. The rain and flooding are not the only thing being discussed this evening.
June 8 is a special day. It's World Brain Tumor Awareness Day – a subject near to me and my family. As I sit in the sweltering afternoon heat scrolling Facebook, I realized just how many people I have personally came to know after Greg's brain tumor diagnosis.
Folks, Greg and I are not alone.
Brain cancer is obviously on the rise here in America and around the world. Everyday I see new posts in private groups. More people receiving the diagnosis of brain cancer. It's a diagnosis that completely reshapes the lives of those affected and those who care for them.
Brain cancer treatment seems to remain stalled mostly due to lack of funding with very few breakthroughs in newer better treatment options. Yet more and more people are being diagnosed.
